What is Gas Sensor?
Gas sensors are mainly used for the detection of a specific gas, measuring the presence or absence of that gas in the sensor's vicinity or the amount of air in the sensor's vicinity.
Therefore, gas sensors are often indispensable in safety systems, where they can provide information on flammable, combustible and toxic gases, as well as the consumption of oxygen in the area, the percentage of carbon dioxide, etc. The common gas sensors available today can be classified according to the detection principle: electrochemical gas sensors, semiconductor gas sensors, infrared gas sensors, MEMS gas sensors, etc.
Characteristics of different principles
Electrochemical Gas Sensors: very low power consumption, high stability, high precision, susceptible to interfering gases, susceptible to temperature changes
Semiconductor Gas Sensors: low price, fast response, poor linearity difficult to measure specific values, susceptible to interfering gases, susceptible to temperature changes.
Infrared Gas Sensors: high stability, strong anti-interference ability, long life, can not be used in dusty and humid environment, higher price.
MEMS Gas Sensors: miniaturization, low power consumption, general accuracy
